Bleasby Parish Council
Bleasby Parish Council presently has opportunities for official posts and for volunteering support roles:
Parish Councillor: we are looking for an additional councillor for co-option to bring, if possible, a balance of gender, age, expertise and background to the Council in order to create as representative a Council as possible. The council understands that local residents may be concerned about undertaking an official post on the Parish Council but would encourage you to make contact if you have the slightest interest. We can then explain exactly what's involved with the aim of tailoring, as far as possible, the role to utilise your strengths and to minimise the time commitment through shared responsibilities. Please email [email protected] with your expression of interest and someone form the Parish Council will contact you for a chat.
Volunteering Roles to Support the Parish Council
The Parish Council recognises that becoming a Councillor is not for everyone. However, to ensure the Parish Plan is implemented, as per the request of the local community, we do need more hands to make lighter work of the challenges ahead. Therefore, the Parish Council would like to help establish various volunteer based roles, both as individuals and as groups.
This process has already started with setting up an Events Group, a Countryside and Footpaths Group and a Communications Group in 2019. Most recently a Traffic Safety and Management Group is being established to help improve the management of traffic flow through the village.
We are typically looking for local people to help out is the following areas:
- someone with specific expertise, experience or interest in a particular field when needed. This might include areas such as finance, asset management, civil works, agriculture, canine matters, ecology, insurance, IT, land management, food mitigation, to name a few.
- someone willing to act as a representative of a particular group, interest or area of the parish to provide information on localised aspirations or concerns and to act as a means to gauge responses to relevant proposals.
- someone willing to be part of a focus group to express personal opinion as a member of the parish community and act as a kind of touchstone
- someone who is happy to be "on hand" as a village volunteer, on an ad hoc basis, to help with existing volunteering groups, events, activities and projects.
If you would like to get involved with helping to implement the Parish Plan and can provide some of your time, however small or large, to help your community develop, then please get in touch by emailing: [email protected] and someone will get in contact to discuss the opportunities further.
St Mary's Church
Presently looking for volunteers to help keep the church open for visitors. This will involve being part of a rota to unlock and lock-up the church for a short period at a time.

Bleasby News is looking for new editors.
After 10 years of running our village bi-monthly village news letter, Barbara and Rachael are looking to step down in 2019.
Ideally handing over to a small team of local residents who can share the load would be the best way forward after a short handover period.
This is a great opportunity for anyone with previous experience or just wishing to learn new skills or get some volunteering hours for their CV.
You will have the opportunity to put your own mark on the future of Bleasby News - the existing editors are especially keen to ensure it reaches a broad audience and would love to increase the engagement of younger readers.
The June 2019 edition of Bleasby News is attached below.
If you are interested, please email [email protected] and someone will contact you for a chat.
