The 15 August 2020 was the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, marking both the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War.

Due to C-19, we were unable to arrange a village event to commemorate VJ Day. However, the flags have been raised at the Bleasby Aircrews Memorial on Glebe Field where you can visit to remember and recognise all those who served and sacrificed in the Far East and ultimately brought an end to the Second World War.

The flags will remain at full mast until the 5th September as this period includes the 1st September, which is the anniversary of the mid-air collision of two Lancaster Bomber aircraft over Bleasby in 1943.
